At Field to Forest we know learning isn’t linear.

Our approach centers nature and our environment as the primary teacher while drawing inspiration from a variety of whole-child centered learning models.

Some of the learning models we draw inspiration from include:

Forest School focuses on the experiencing of the natural elements to foster resilience, confidence & vitality in children. It prioritizes skill building and the development of seasonal, cyclical awareness through observation & participation with nature.

Waldorf tradition emphasizes story, music, art & the significance of 7 year learning & developmental cycles.

Montessori methods use natural materials to emphasize the process over the product and a spiral curriculum approach to scaffold skill building over time.

Emergent Learning Models like the Reggio Emilia Approach, Charlotte Mason’s work and the research of Peter Gray highlight the importance of developing intrinsic motivation and cultivating passion & learning readiness through focusing on child-led interests.

We understand that inquiry & learning are play, nature literacy & ancestral skills are foundational life skills, and through conscious community building we can foster a future in harmony with our environment.

Some of the learning resources woven into the program include:

A Year in Forest School and other Forest School Manuals

Blossom & Root, a creative, nature-based, secular homeschooling curriculum inspired by Charlotte Mason & Waldorf philosphies.

Lavendar Blue, a holistic, Waldorf-inspired curriculum full of enchanting stories & circles and beautifully integrated artistic activities.

Waldorf Arts & Handcraft Teaching Manuals

Montessori Materials & Form Drawing Manuals
